CRCPTF Rural Crime School

This is a 40-hour course designed for patrol officers, investigators and crime prevention personnel wanting to develop an expertise in the area of rural crime. The student will be provided with skills necessary for effective rural crime prevention, reporting, interdiction and investigation.

There will be instruction on basic livestock theft investigation, breed and brand recognition, individual case studies, rural criminal law, trespass law, the bureau of livestock ID’S role and responsibilities, livestock road enforcement, agricultural commodity theft, investigation and inspection, heavy equipment theft, agroterrorism, agricultural fraud, equipment OAN and PIN number identification, metal theft and agricultural chemical theft.

There will be field exercises and role-playing that is related to the lectures. Related law enforcement professionals are invited to attend.

CRCPTF Scholarship

Information
The California Rural Crimes Prevention Task Force is offering college scholarships to active members of the task force and their immediate families. Two $500 annual scholarships will be issued. The deadline for applications are as follows:
1. 2011 Spring Semester – Deadline is October 15, 2010
2. 2011 Fall Semester – Deadline is June 15, 2011

Criteria:
1. Course of study to be in law enforcement or agriculture.
2. High school or college GPA must be at least a 3.0.

All application materials should be e-mailed to scholarship@crcptf.com. If you are unable to deliver your application materials electronically, please explain your circumstances by using the above e-mail address.
1. Please complete the scholarship application available here and send the requested information with your e-mail. Please make sure the information is clearly legible in your e-mail.
2. Please attach a 1-2 page biography about yourself along with a personal statement outlining your academic goals and objectives. This statement should include your reasons for attending college and a description of how you plan to utilize your education in the future.
3. Provide a list of organizations you are or have been involved with.
4. Attach a recent photo of yourself to your application, as well as a scanned image of your applicable school transcripts. Complete copies of high school (college freshmen students only) or college transcripts. Libraries and copy shops may have scanners available for this purpose.
